Liferay Portal Wins InfoWorld’s 2007 Technology Of The Year Award

LOS ANGELES, CA – (February 1, 2007) – Liferay, provider of the world’s leading enterprise-class, open source portal, today announced that Liferay Portal 4.0 has earned a 2007 Technology of the Year award from InfoWorld magazine, one of the IT industry’s most respected trade publications. The 2007 “Technology of the Year” awards were presented to just 41 products out of hundreds evaluated while Liferay’s award for “Best Open Source Portal” was one of only four given in the Applications category.

“Liferay Portal 4.0 rivals many commercial portal platforms in both functionality and technology,” said InfoWorld of the category winner. In fact, this has been a view long held by the publication. In a 2006 InfoWorld review, Mark Heck also affirmed the quality of the product saying, “Using Liferay Portal 4.0 was totally enjoyable. I was impressed with the solid administration, flexible deployment options, and how much functionality comes out of the box…If I had to quickly create a finished portal with open source tools, Liferay would be my first choice for its usability, polished look, and supplied portlets.”

“Liferay Portal continues to grow in reputation as one of the best choices on the market for enterprise portal development,” said Bryan Cheung, chief executive officer of Liferay, “We’re honored that InfoWorld magazine shares this view and will keep innovating to maintain our leadership. Liferay Portal’s current 4.2 version has been extremely well received and the coming 4.3 version will offer even more impressive user features and back-end functionality.”

InfoWorld magazine provides specialized IT coverage for CTOs and senior company executives with deep technology expertise and experience. The publication provides in-depth technical analysis on key products, solutions, and technologies critical to today’s enterprises. Of the more than 230 products reviewed in 2006, only the “best and most innovative” products were chosen to represent their class.
